Ruston, Louisiana
Previous to swimming pool and electrical work, Hamp graduated from Northrup University, Institute of Technology, Inglewood, CA, with an F.A.A. Airframe and Powerplant License.
After moving back to Ruston in 1982, Hamp started an aircraft repair shop for the Ruston Flying Service.
The year 1985, was very important and busy. First, marriage to Avis, who was well on her way to becoming a great aircraft technician. She soon got her Airframe and Powerplant license from the FAA.
Later in 1985, Hamp passed exams for the F.A.A. Authorized Inspector license, to do annual inspections, major repairs, and alterations to aircraft. This resulted in contracts relating to taking care of Louisiana Tech University's flight school for many years.
The shop should have been called Hamp and Avis's Aircraft Shop, since we were one of the few facilities that really cared about smaller general aviation aircraft.
Pilot licenses included: Private, Commercial, Instrument, Single-Engine, Multi-Engine...1,200 flight hours. Also ground instructor, and as previously mentioned, A&P mechanic, and the Authorized Aircraft Inspection license.
In 2006, Hamp passed the state exams for business (contractor) and Louisiana statewide electrical work.
In 2010, Hamp passed a review, and received the Texas Master Electrician License.
Thirty-five years of service to the public.
